A library apprentice, a sorcerer prince, and an unbreakable magic bond...

The Solaris Empire is one conquest away from uniting the continent, and the rare elemental magic sleeping in seventeen-year-old library apprentice Vhalla Yarl could shift the tides of war.

Vhalla has always been taught to fear the Tower of Sorcerers, a mysterious magic society, and has been happy in her quiet world of books. But after she unknowingly saves the life of one of the most powerful sorcerers of them all—the Crown Prince Aldrik—she finds herself enticed into his world. Now she must decide her future: Embrace her sorcery and leave the life she’s known, or eradicate her magic and remain as she’s always been. And with powerful forces lurking in the shadows, Vhalla’s indecision could cost her more than she ever imagined.

My Review

It took me one day to finish this entire book. I started it at like, 2 am because I’d just finished another book, and by 10 pm that night, I was done and moving on to the sequel. Needless to say, I’m actually obsessed. I don’t remember being this in love with a series, as in ‘I need to finish this entire series in a week’ obsessed, since I started Throne of Glass.

As I do with all my favorite books, I like to find pictures of actors/actresses/models to picture as the characters. Now this time, I didn’t find them on my own so I don’t know their names or anything like that, but I found them on this Goodreads review and they’re kind of perfect.

So this is how I pictured Vhalla, Aldrik, and Baldair

Honestly, Prince Baldair wasn’t in this all that much, at least not enough that I needed to really picture someone as him, buuuut he’s so pretty I just wanted to include him. Sorry not sorry.

Now that I’ve properly fangirled over my new favs, lets move on to the actual review section, shall we? We shall.

I have this thing, that if I buy a book on my Kindle I’ll probably never ever buy it for my shelves. I don’t really have a reason, other than I usually buy books I’m not sure I’ll like on my Kindle, so that I dont have it taking up bookshelf space, but this book was nothing like I thought it would be and I’ve already ordered the entire series, at least what’s published, for my shelves. And yes, these are going directly onto my favorites shelves.

The first thing that sparked my interest, was that people were comparing this to The Last Airbender and Throne of Glass, and they were totally right. It’s the perfect combination of the two, and kept me interested literally the entire time.

Also, I’m going to shamelessly flail over Prince Aldrik now because oh my god.

Yes, he’s an asshole, and yes he’s moody as hell, but that’s why I’m in love with him. I’m naturally drawn to brooding, dramatic guys in books, hence why Jace was my first book boyfriend, and Aldrik was my dream love interest right from the start. I could honestly go on all day about that boy, but I’m going to move on to the badass MC, Vhalla.

They wanted to kill her, so this Vhalla would die, she resolved, and a new Vhalla would be born from her ashes.

If that’s not the most bad ass thing you’ve ever read, lemme just show you more of this amazing MC.

They were sending her to war, so she would go and become something they had every right to fear.

Now if that’s seriously not the most bad ass thing you’ve ever read, get out of my face right now. When I read that last sentence towards the end of the book, I could literally feel my jaw drop and I was just like “I’m so ready for the next book. Lets do this thing.” And then I saw that it was nearly three am, and I decided I would wait until I had slept a little bit before starting on this emotional roller coaster again.

I’m starting that book today, and I’m sure I’m going to finish it just as quickly as this one. I’m addicted, and it’s becoming a problem. But, it’s a problem I’m not trying to fix.

I hope everyone has a fantabulous day/evening/morning/whenever you’re reading this and happy reading!

IT’S SUCH A GOOD SERIES, OH MY GOD.

I put it on hold so that I could read The Winner’s Trilogy, but I’m almost done with the last book so I’m going to be diving right back down to this one as soon as humanly possible.

And the fifth book in the series comes out july 12th, and I’m SO EXCITED. I can’t wait to get started on the rest of this series omg.

      • THERE’S GOING TO BE FIVE OF THEM?!!!
Oh yes. I’m SO getting behind this.
