Book Review: Miss Mayhem (Rebel Belle #2)Title: Miss Mayhem (Rebel Belle, #2)
Author: Rachel Hawkins
Publisher: Putnam Juvenile

Life is almost back to normal for Harper Price.

The Ephors have been silent after their deadly attack at Cotillion months ago, and her best friend, Bee, has returned after a mysterious disappearance. Now Harper can focus on the important things in life: school, canoodling with David (her nemesis-turned-ward-slash-boyfie), and even competing in the Miss Pine Grove pageant.

Unfortunately, supernatural chores are never done. The Ephors have decided they’d rather train David than kill him. The catch: Harper has to come along for the ride, but she can’t stay David’s Paladin unless she undergoes an ancient trial that will either kill her . . . or make her more powerful than ever.

My Review

I finished this book last night and I’m still a little confused on how I feel about it. I mean, yes, I did love this book for sure. But, it fell kind of short. I think, what truly happened, was that it definitely had the second book syndrome. I really hate to say it, but I actually found myself getting bored at points.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I still love all these characters. I love Harper, and I most definitely love David, but the action scenes just weren’t all that actiony, and the ending was just kinda… Meh.

I mean, I know what’s going to happen in the next book, and I’m really excited for it, so I just hope it’s not all this build up and it just fizzles out like some books do.

But seriously, aside from plot, David and Harper had me crying at so many different times. Like good god, those two were an emotional roller coaster.

I need all of that mess to be fixed by the end of the third book. And if you’ve read this book, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

I hope everyone has a fantabulous day/evening/morning/whenever you’re reading this and happy reading!

  • I just finished reading Rebel Belle and I absolutely loved it. It was one of those ridiculous and fun books that I really needed to read at the time. I bought Miss Mayhem, too, but haven’t started it yet…I’ll probably be reading this one next. I hope it’s as good as the first, but after reading your review I’m not entirely sure.
