I was trying to come up with some blog post ideas, mainly trying to give my blog some posts that aren’t just me reviewing books, and I decided I would do some recommendations! For this one, I’m probably going to only have three at the most, simply because I haven’t read all that many alien books yet. I might include ones I plan to read, mostly because there’s probably a ton more in that list than the ones I have read already.
My first is definitely one of my favorites out there, and that’s the Alienated series by Melissa Landers.
Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.
Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.
Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.
But when Cara’s classmates get swept up by anti-L’eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn’t safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara’s locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.
Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she’s fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.
I have reivews for book one and two here:
I won’t go into too much detail on this post, mainly because it would just be a lot of fangirling about Aelyx, which I totally do in both reviews, so you can check those out if you’re looking for a non-spoilery review before you jump in.
The next has got to be The Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don’t kill him first, that is.
This is one that I know a ton of people have already read, especially in the Booktubing community, and it so lives up to all the hype that surrounds it! Now, I’ve only read the first in the series, and you can find that book review right here:
Just be warned… That review has got a lot of freaking out about Daemon in it.. Which really shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who had read that book because, good lord is that boy the definition of heart eyes.
And my final recommendation for this week is The Lunar Chronicles by Marssia Meyer
Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing.
A deadly plague ravages the population.
From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl.
Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness.
But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction.
Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.
I’m currently working my way through the giant final book, Winter, and I’m hopefully going to have that review up sometime in March. But for now, here are the other books I’ve reviewed in the series:
And I think that’s going to wrap it up for my recommendations list! Do you guys have any alien books you loved that I should check out? Or have you read some of these already?
I hope everyone has a fantabulous day/evening/morning/whenever you’re reading this and happy reading!
