book vs movie ruby red

So last week I finally picked up Ruby Red and finished it, within only a few days because of how addicted I was to the plot line. I found out from my favorite booktuber, Sasha Alsberg, that this book has been made into a movie in Germany! My book review is here, and now for my review of the movie!

this is gonna be good

So, as to be expected, there were a bunch of random little things that had been changed. I think the one I’m most annoyed with, or stuck out to me the most was the fact that Gideon was way more hot and cold in the movie than he was in the book. It wasn’t in a way that really made any sense, it was just in the way that made him seem like an ass. And it made me roll my eyes at least half a dozen times.

eye roll

Other than that, I think the characters were casted rather well, and the plot was held true to at least the major things that happened in the book. Although, I’m now reading Sapphire Blue and almost done with it, and there are a few things from that book in the movie for whatever reason.

Oh, and the last thing that I wasn’t a huge fan of was the forced love triangle between Gideon, Charlotte, and Gwyneth. I’m all for a good love triangle, one that makes sense and is actually worth the added drama and angst, but this one seemed awkward and forced. Plus, Charlotte was incredibly annoying. All I can say is I’m so glad book Charlotte is nothing like movie Charlotte.

Now I’m off to go finish this second book, and maybe even watch that movie! Although, I’m not sure if theres even an English dubbed version out yet..

I hope everyone has a fantabulous day/evening/morning/whenever you’re reading this and happy reading!
