ruby redBook: Ruby Red (The Ruby Red Trilogy #1)

Author: Kerstin Gier

Published: May 10, 2011

Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult, Romance

Summary: Gwyneth Shepherd’s sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time. But unexpectedly, it is Gwyneth, who in the middle of class takes a sudden spin to a different era!

Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon–the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential. Together, Gwyneth and Gideon journey through time to discover who, in the 18th century and in contemporary London, they can trust.

My Review: I literally just finished this book last night and all I can still think is why did I not read this earlier? I picked it up in I think August of last year and could barely get through the first two chapters before getting bored. I put it down until just a couple of days ago, and then I sped through it! I don’t know what changed, but I must have definitely been in a time traveling kind of mood after having finished Passenger.

Lets get the swooning out of the way, shall we? I mean.. Gideon. Gideon.

Gideon

Need I say more? I think not.

Moving on to the other characters of this fantastic novel. I honestly can’t even find words to sum up how much, and how quickly, I fell in love with the characters! I mean, Charlotte made me roll my eyes the entire time, and her mother was just as horrid, but I can look past that because everyone else is pretty darn perfect and I’m in love.

i love you

I’ll admit, there were times when it dragged a little, but it was never for too long which I was really happy about. I know some books that go into a lot of detail, like a lot of Cassandra Clare’s books, tend to drag in places, but luckily this one didn’t do that too much!

And I mean.. The epilogue totally killed me. I won’t go on further, mostly because I’m tryin’ to stay spoiler free.. But I just.. What?

oh mah gerd

I’m currently watching the movie, I finally found it with English dub after like hours of searching, and I’ll probably post a comparison review of that soon! And of course, I’ve already picked up Sapphire Blue. I think I’m officially addicted to this series, you guys.

I hope everyone has a fantabulous day/evening/morning/whenever you’re reading this and happy reading!
