Book: Reawakened (The Reawakened #1)
Author: Colleen Houck
Published: August 11, 2015
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult, Mythology, Romance
Summary: When seventeen-year-old Lilliana Young enters the Metropolitan Museum of Art one morning during spring break, the last thing she expects to find is a live Egyptian prince with godlike powers, who has been reawakened after a thousand years of mummification.
And she really can’t imagine being chosen to aid him in an epic quest that will lead them across the globe to find his brothers and complete a grand ceremony that will save mankind.
But fate has taken hold of Lily, and she, along with her sun prince, Amon, must travel to the Valley of the Kings, raise his brothers, and stop an evil, shape-shifting god named Seth from taking over the world.
My Review: Please tell me this is going to be a series. I know on Goodreads it says that it’s just the first book, but seriously, I can’t trust the internet anymore. If this isn’t going to have a sequel, I might just die. I loved this book.
I do want to specify something though. I loved this from a completely fictional point of view. I don’t know anything about the Egyptian culture or mythology to be able to comment if the things in this book were true or not, so I don’t plan to. However, I know many people have commented that this book comes off racist, it completely bull shits the history and mythology, and just all around the woman didn’t seem to put any effort into researching it.
Now, with all that said. I loved this thing. The characters were hilarious, and I honestly loved how sarcastic Lily was! I didn’t think she was a stereotypical main character, but maybe that was just me being really hopeful that a book with such a pretty cover would be just as pretty on the inside.
Also, can we just talk about Amon? I mean good god. Literally. Good, sun god.
I think I’m clever.
This is definitely how I pictured him because Avan Jogia is just perfect for him in my mind.
I’m not really entirely sure how I pictured Lily. I think I pictured her to look most like Ashley Benson from Pretty Little Liars, but sometimes I was too focused on the story to really pick out a certain person for her to be in my mind. If that makes any sense at all..
Overall, this book was slow to get started, but boy when it got going it was good. By the end of the book, I literally couldn’t put it down. And now I have to wait almost a year for the next one?! After that ending!?
I hope everyone has a fantabulous day/evening/morning/whenever you’re reading and happy reading!
