invadedBook: Invaded (Alienated #2)

Author: Melissa Landers

Published: February 3, 2015

Genres: Young Adult, Science Fiction, Romance

Summary: The romantic sequel to Alienated takes long-distance relationships to a new level as Cara and Aelyx long for each other from opposite ends of the universe…until a threat to both their worlds reunites them.

Cara always knew life on planet L’eihr would be an adjustment. With Aelyx, her L’eihr boyfriend, back on Earth, working to mend the broken alliance between their two planets, Cara is left to fend for herself at a new school, surrounded by hostile alien clones. Even the weird dorm pet hates her.

Things look up when Cara is appointed as human representative to a panel preparing for a human colony on L’eihr. A society melding their two cultures is a place where Cara and Aelyx could one day make a life together. But with L’eihr leaders balking at granting even the most basic freedoms, Cara begins to wonder if she could ever be happy on this planet, even with Aelyx by her side.

Meanwhile, on Earth, Aelyx, finds himself thrown into a full-scale PR campaign to improve human-L’eihr relations. Humans don’t know that their very survival depends on this alliance: only Aelyx’s people have the technology to fix the deadly contamination in the global water supply that human governments are hiding. Yet despite their upper hand, the leaders of his world suddenly seem desperate to get humans on their side, and hardly bat an eye at extremists’ multiple attempts on Aelyx’s life.

The Way clearly needs humans’ help . . . but with what? And what will they ask for in return?

My Review: Unlike so many of the reviews I’ve been reading today, I was no where near disappointed in this book. I actually really liked it. I have to admit, I was a little sad that Aelyx and Cara didn’t have a bunch of cute scenes like I wanted them to, but that might have been for the best. If they hadn’t been separate most of the book, it would have just been one big love fest and it probably would’ve gotten old real quick.

Although, I’m not sure if those two could get old. They’re just so cute.

so cute

This is totally random, yes, but the end.

I mean, why?? Why do you have to give me feels like that Melissa, why?

Other than my immediate, fangirl filled responses, this book really was amazing. It wasn’t as good as the first, the second books almost never are, but it was pretty close up there. There was enough action that it wasn’t boring, but it wasn’t “go go go” all the time, which I definitely liked.

I loved that she brought more secondary characters into it and the plot development is driving me insane! I need the next book now. I can’t just simply wait to find out what happens like everyone else.

I know in a Q & A she said that is was only going to be two books, unless this one sold really well, but the way it ended there’s just no way there can’t be a third! There has to be. There just has to be. And I need my hands on an ARC asap.
