Summary: In this sequel to the bestselling fantasy thriller, Angelfall, the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what’s left of the modern world.

When a group of people capture Penryn’s sister Paige, thinking she’s a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.

Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels’ secret plans where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.

Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can’t rejoin the angels, can’t take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?

My Review: Oh. My. God.

I think my favorite parts are, of course, Raffe, and the sassy sword. Gotta love that sassy sword. And I mean, obviously gotta love Raffe.. It’s Raffe, come on.

This book was so fast paced and entertaining I swear I couldn’t put it down even if I tried. The second book was definitely darker than Angelfall though, which I loved. I have this weird love for darker books, especially when it comes to angels. Don’t ask, I don’t know.

The creepy creatures in the basement, insane little cannibalistic kids, and evil angels. What’s not to love there?

I don’t know how she manages it, but the author is so good at combining hilarious banter and gross, totally nasty, gory scenes. Everything fits so perfectly together in these books I can’t help but fall in love with them.

Now onto Raffe, like always. I was definitely disappointed that I didn’t get to see a whole lot of him until the end of the book. But when I did, I was a very happy camper.

ugh raffe

Lets just take a moment to appreciate how damn hot this romance is.

“The candlelight flickers a soft glow along his jawline, along his lips.  “I hated losing her.”  His voice is a low growl.  “I hadn’t realized just how attached I’d gotten.”  He reaches and moves a strand of wet hair out of my face.  “How dangerously addictive she could be.”

Did you catch the feels? I caught the feels.

While this book was definitely a bit slower than the first one, at least for me, it was still quite good and I definitely recommend it.

can’t wait until the third one comes out. I know it’s only in like, ten days? But I need it now. Someone hook me up with an ARC.

give it to me now
